Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 11,   Pages 107-112

Abstract:

Application of transient electromagnetic method, carries on the cavern blasting blind detection and recognition of feasibility study. Test to establish the electromagnetic background field, and then in the cavern preset benign conductor and measured after eliminating the background field, in the electromagnetic field transient to do the electromagnetic measurement again after blasting. Benign comparison before and after blasting preset the change of the conductive body eddy current field, realizes the cavern blasting blind shot detection and identification of purpose. The test results show that the target when the aluminum box buried depth of no more than 30 m, transient electromagnetic method can clearly identify the position of the aluminum box; When the aluminum box buried depth after more than 30 m, aluminum box formation of the secondary vortex field level, not sure the deep buried depth and position of the aluminum box.

Passive Intermodulation Measurement: Challenges and Solutions Review

Zhanghua Cai, Lie Liu, Francesco de Paulis, Yihong Qi

Engineering 2022, Volume 14, Issue 7,   Pages 181-191 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2022.02.012

Abstract:

In modern wireless communication systems, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is one of the most important performance indicators. When the other radio frequency (RF) performance of the components is well designed, passive intermodulation (PIM) interference may become an important factor limiting the system’s SNR. Whether it is a base station, an indoor distributed antenna system, or a satellite system, there are stringent PIM level requirements to minimize interference and enhance network capacity in multicarrier networks. Especially for systems of high power and wide bandwidth such as 5G wireless communication, PIM interference is even more serious. Due to the complexity and uncertainty of PIM, measurement is the most important means to study and evaluate the PIM performance of wireless communication systems. In this review, the current main PIM measurement methods recommended by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and other standard organizations are introduced, and several key challenges in PIM measurement and their solutions (including the design of PIM tester, the location of the PIM sources, the design of compact PIM anechoic chambers, and the evaluation methods of PIM anechoic chambers) are highlighted. These challenges are of great significance to solve PIM problems that may arise during device characterization and verification in real wireless communication systems.

Day-ahead electricity price forecasting using back propagation neural networks and weighted least square technique

S. Surender REDDY,Chan-Mook JUNG,Ko Jun SEOG

Frontiers in Energy 2016, Volume 10, Issue 1,   Pages 105-113 doi: 10.1007/s11708-016-0393-y

Abstract: This paper proposes the day-ahead electricity price forecasting using the artificial neural networks (ANN) and weighted least square (WLS) technique in the restructured electricity markets. Price forecasting is very important for online trading, e-commerce and power system operation. Forecasting the hourly locational marginal prices (LMP) in the electricity markets is a very important basis for the decision making in order to maximize the profits/benefits. The novel approach proposed in this paper for forecasting the electricity prices uses WLS technique and compares the results with the results obtained by using ANNs. To perform this price forecasting, the market knowledge is utilized to optimize the selection of input data for the electricity price forecasting tool. In this paper, price forecasting for Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) interconnection is demonstrated using the ANNs and the proposed WLS technique. The data used for this price forecasting is obtained from the PJM website. The forecasting results obtained by both methods are compared, which shows the effectiveness of the proposed forecasting approach. From the simulation results, it can be observed that the accuracy of prediction has increased in both seasons using the proposed WLS technique. Another important advantage of the proposed WLS technique is that it is not an iterative method.
